1. What are decorative solar lights?

Decorative solar lights are solar-powered street and pathway lights designed to look elegant while providing reliable night-time illumination. Starka’s decorative range includes Single Arm Dome, Dual Arm Dome and Decorative Street Light models, mounted on a 6-metre decorative MS pole with a black and golden painted finish. Each light has an inbuilt MPPT charge controller and LiFePO4 battery inside the luminaire, so it lights up automatically every night using solar energy and adds beauty to streets, parks and campuses.

2. Which wattages and models are available in Starka decorative solar lights?

Starka decorative solar lights are available in 9W, 12W, 18W, 20W, 25W and 30W wattages. The models include the Single Arm Dome, the Dual Arm Dome and the Decorative Street Light, so you can choose a design based on the look of your project and the width of the area to be lit. Battery capacity (12.8V, 6Ah to 24Ah) and solar panel size (40W to 100W) are matched to each wattage, and Starka can customise the design to suit smart city, resort or heritage projects.

3. How does a decorative solar light work at night?

During the day, the BIS-approved solar panel converts sunlight into electricity, which the intelligent MPPT charge controller regulates and stores in the 12.8V LiFePO4 battery. At dusk, the dusk-to-dawn function switches the light ON automatically, and the LED runs on stored battery energy at 100% brightness for the first 5 hours and at 50% brightness for the next 7 hours. At dawn, the light switches OFF by itself and the battery begins charging again, giving up to 12 hours of lighting every night without any manual control.

4. What happens to decorative solar lights during cloudy or rainy weather?

The solar panel continues to generate energy even under cloudy conditions, although charging is slower than on a sunny day. The LiFePO4 battery stores energy from earlier days, which helps the light keep operating through the night during the monsoon or overcast weather. The smart dimming programme also reduces energy use during the late-night hours, so the light makes the best possible use of the stored power until sunshine returns.

5. How is the battery protected in Starka decorative solar lights?

Every Starka decorative solar light uses a 12.8V LiFePO4 battery with an integrated Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS protects the battery against overcharging, over-discharging, over-current and other abnormal operating conditions, which keeps the battery safe and extends its working life. LiFePO4 chemistry is also known for its high safety and stable performance in outdoor heat, which is why Starka uses it across its solar lighting range.

6. What LED and housing are used in decorative solar lights?

The lights use high-efficiency OSRAM LEDs with up to 120 lumens per watt and an LED life of approximately 50,000 hours. The luminaire housing is made of powder-coated aluminium with a high-transmittance polycarbonate (PC) outdoor cover that protects the LEDs while letting maximum light through. The decorative structure and 6-metre pole are made of MS with a durable painted finish, and the luminaire is tested for IP65/66 so it performs reliably through rain, dust and heat.

7. Where can decorative solar lights be installed?

Decorative solar lights are ideal for residential streets, housing societies, parks, gardens and walking paths. They are also popular for hotel and resort entrances, school, college and hospital campuses, promenades, smart city projects and public spaces where appearance matters as much as lighting. Their elegant design also suits heritage sites, monuments and temples, where you want good illumination without overhead cables or a monthly electricity bill.

8. How are decorative solar lights installed?

Choose a location with enough sunlight and prepare the pole foundation as per site conditions, then lay the 6-metre decorative pole horizontally on supports. Fix the single or dual decorative arm, mount and align the LED luminary, install the solar panel bracket and panel, and face the panel towards maximum sunlight. Connect the panel cable to the luminary’s solar input with correct polarity, confirm the two black battery wires inside are joined, secure the cable along the pole, then erect the assembled pole on the foundation, check vertical alignment and test the light in low-light conditions.

9. What is included in the decorative solar light kit?

The kit includes the decorative dome or street luminaire with inbuilt lithium battery, the decorative MS pole, the single or dual decorative arm, the solar panel and panel structure. It also contains flexible pipe, tape, nut-bolts and all other accessories needed for installation, so the light can be installed without buying any additional parts. The exact contents are matched to the model and quantity in your order and are listed in the quotation.

10. What certifications do Starka decorative solar lights have?

Starka decorative solar lights are supported by BIS certification for the light, battery cell and solar panel, LM-80 testing of the LEDs and LM-79 testing of the luminaire. The luminaire is rated IP65/66 for protection against dust and water, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use.
