dusk-to-dawn

Dusk-to-dawn technology automatically activates the light after sunset and switches it off after daylight. This provides convenient, hands-free operation without regular manual switching.

Dimming

Auto-dimming technology adjusts light output during selected nighttime periods. It helps optimize battery consumption while maintaining useful illumination.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions Answered

Starka Solar LED Blinkers are solar-powered traffic warning lights in red, amber and green with over 500 metres visibility and up to 4 days of autonomy.

A solar LED blinker is a solar-powered warning and safety light that produces a bright flashing signal to alert drivers and pedestrians at places that need caution. Starka’s solar blinker uses a 40W solar panel, an in-built 12.8V LiFePO4 battery (6Ah or 12Ah) and high-efficiency LEDs that are visible from more than 500 metres. It runs completely on solar energy, so it can be installed on roads and remote locations where there is no electricity supply.

Starka solar blinkers are available in three models: Amber, Red and Green. Amber blinkers are commonly used for general caution at junctions, curves and medians, red blinkers mark danger points and barricades, and green can be used for guidance and signalling as per the site plan. All three models use the same reliable solar system with a maximum power consumption of 4W.

The Starka solar blinker uses a 40W solar PV module and an in-built LiFePO4 battery of 6Ah or 12Ah at 12.8V, with a 12V DC system voltage and up to 4 days of autonomy. Its LEDs consume a maximum of 4W, have a 23° viewing angle, a lamp intensity above 330 cd and visibility of more than 500 metres, with an LED driver efficiency above 90%. It uses an MPPT controller with a three-stage charging algorithm, has a fully sealed IP54 housing as per NHAI standard, and is mounted on a 12-feet yellow colour-coated MS pole of 75 mm diameter.

During the day, the 40W solar panel converts sunlight into electricity, which the MPPT charge controller regulates and stores in the built-in LiFePO4 battery. The stored energy powers the high-efficiency LEDs to produce a bright flashing Red, Amber or Green warning signal. The blinker can be configured for 12-hour or 24-hour operation, and an optional dusk-to-dawn sensor can switch it ON and OFF automatically based on ambient light.

The solar panel keeps charging the battery even in cloudy conditions, though at a slower rate. With its LiFePO4 battery, the Starka solar blinker offers up to 4 days of autonomy, which means it can continue flashing for several days with limited sunlight, depending on the battery option and operating mode. This makes it dependable for monsoon conditions and for critical safety points on highways.

Yes, a solar blinker can be installed on an existing pole depending on the mounting arrangement and the pole’s dimensions. Before installation, the mounting should be checked to ensure that the bracket fits properly and the blinker is held securely. Starka also supplies a complete kit with a 12-feet yellow MS pole, panel stand and blinker clamp if a new pole is required.

Solar blinkers are used for road and highway safety to warn motorists, and in construction zones to mark ongoing roadwork. They improve the visibility of traffic islands, medians and road dividers, give advance warning at sharp turns, accident-prone and hazardous spots, and highlight pedestrian crossings. They are also installed at bridge and culvert approaches, intersections, barricades and remote locations without grid electricity.

Choose a location with clear visibility and good sunlight, make sure the pole is stable, and mark where the blinker and bracket will be fixed. Fix the bracket and blinker firmly, mount the solar panel in an open spot at an angle for maximum sunlight, then connect the two black wires from the blinker as per the wiring arrangement and the positive and negative wires to the correct terminals. Check that every connection is tight and insulated, route the cables neatly along the pole, and confirm that the blinker charges in daylight and flashes correctly in low light.

The Starka solar blinker’s MPPT controller protects the system against short circuit, battery overcharge, deep discharge and PV reverse polarity, and it also provides LED over-current protection. The three-stage charging algorithm maintains the battery’s health, while the LiFePO4 chemistry gives safe and long-lasting performance. The fully sealed IP54 weather-resistant housing protects the electronics from dust and rain in outdoor conditions.

The kit includes the blinker with in-built battery, the solar panel with panel stand, the pole, clamps, blinker clamp, tape and wire. Maintenance is minimal: clean the solar panel periodically so dust does not reduce charging, and keep the LED lens and housing clean for clear visibility. Also check the wiring, connections and mounting bolts from time to time to make sure the unit stays secure and aligned.
