1. What is an AC LED street light?

An AC LED street light is a street light that runs directly on the mains AC power supply and uses LEDs to provide bright, uniform illumination. Starka’s AC street light uses a Starka-make LED PCB and driver with a wide input voltage range of 90V to 300V and an aluminium die-cast powder-coated IP65 housing. It does not need a battery or solar panel and provides continuous lighting whenever power is available, making it suitable for municipal, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects.

2. Which wattages are available in Starka AC street lights?

Starka AC street lights are available in 24W, 36W, 50W, 70W, 100W, 150W and 200W, in both the Glass Model and the Lens Model. Lower wattages suit colony roads and campuses, while higher wattages are used for main roads, highways and industrial areas. The right wattage depends on road width, pole height and pole spacing, and Starka’s team can help you select it for your project.

3. What is the difference between the glass model and lens model AC street light?

The main difference is the optical cover used to distribute light. The Glass Model has a glass front that gives a broad, even spread of light, while the Lens Model uses lenses over the LEDs that direct light more precisely along the road for uniform distribution. Both models are available in all wattages, and the choice depends on your project requirement and the lighting pattern you want.

4. What input voltage does the Starka AC street light work on?

The Starka AC street light works on a wide input voltage range of 90V to 300V AC using a Starka-make LED driver. This wide range means the light continues to work reliably even when the supply voltage fluctuates, which is common in many parts of India. The driver also helps protect the LEDs and gives long, flicker-free operation.

5. Can the AC street light switch ON and OFF automatically?

Yes. The Starka AC street light can be supplied with an LDR (light dependent resistor) or photocell sensor for automatic ON/OFF operation. The sensor switches the light ON when it gets dark and OFF in daylight, so no one has to operate a switch every day. This saves electricity and ensures the light never stays on during the day by mistake.

6. Does the AC street light need a battery or solar panel?

No. The standard Starka AC street light runs directly on the AC power supply, so it does not need a battery or a solar panel. It provides continuous lighting whenever grid power is available, which keeps the initial cost low and maintenance simple. If you need lighting in a location without reliable power, Starka’s solar street lights are the better option.

7. Where can AC LED street lights be used?

AC LED street lights are suitable for city and municipal roads, industrial areas and factory premises, highways and main roads. They are also used in residential colonies and housing societies, commercial areas and market roads, parking areas, campuses, railway stations and bus stands. Starka’s AC street lights are designed for continuous outdoor operation in all these locations.

8. How is an AC street light installed?

Inspect the site for pole location, mounting height and power supply, switch OFF the main supply, and check the light and the pole for damage and strength. Fix the light on a suitable bracket, tighten all bolts and adjust the fixture angle so the light falls correctly on the road. Connect the phase, neutral and earth wires as per the wiring diagram with a suitable cable, ensure proper earthing and insulation, then switch the power ON and check brightness, light distribution and that there is no flickering.

9. How should an AC street light be maintained?

Clean the glass or lens and the housing periodically to remove dust, dirt and insects so the light output stays bright. Always switch off the power supply before cleaning, inspection or servicing for electrical safety. Avoid spraying high-pressure water directly on the light or its electrical connections, and periodically check that the bracket, bolts and cables are secure.

10. What warranty and certifications does the Starka AC street light have?
