Starka AC LED Flood Lights are high-efficiency, IP65/IP66 outdoor flood lights from 30W to 500W, available in glass, lens, stadium and high-bay models.

1. What are AC LED flood lights?

AC LED flood lights are high-power outdoor lights that run directly on mains AC electricity and throw bright, wide and uniform light over large areas. Starka flood lights use OSRAM LEDs, high-quality in-house LED drivers with surge protection and an aluminium die-cast IP65/IP66 housing with a heat sink. They deliver excellent brightness with low power consumption and are used for high masts, industrial yards, warehouses, sports grounds, parking areas and building facades.

2. Which wattages and models of AC LED flood lights does Starka offer?

Starka AC LED flood lights are available in 30W, 50W, 100W, 150W, 200W, 300W, 400W and 500W. The range includes the Glass Model, the Lens Model, Stadium Mast Lights and High-bay Lights, so you can choose the right optics and power for your application. Because the lights and drivers are made in-house, Starka can customise wattage, beam angle and mounting to suit your project.

3. What is the difference between the glass model and lens model flood lights?

The difference lies in the optical cover used to distribute the light. A glass model uses a toughened glass front with a reflector, giving a wide, even spread suitable for general area lighting. A lens model uses individual lenses over the LEDs that direct the light precisely in the required direction, giving more uniform distribution and better throw, which is useful for high masts, sports grounds and long-distance lighting.

4. Can AC LED flood lights be used during the rainy season?

Yes. Starka AC LED flood lights work in all seasons, including heavy monsoon rain. The IP65/IP66-rated housing protects the LEDs and driver from dust, water and other environmental conditions, and the lights are also IK08 rated for impact resistance. This makes them reliable for open outdoor locations such as construction sites, highways and storage yards throughout the year.

5. Why is a heat sink used in LED flood lights?

An aluminium heat sink is used to remove the heat generated by the LEDs while they are operating. By spreading and dissipating this heat evenly, the heat sink keeps the LED temperature under control, which prevents early dimming and failure. Good thermal management, combined with quality components and a stable driver, is the main reason Starka flood lights deliver long LED life and consistent brightness.

6. Can AC LED flood lights switch ON and OFF automatically?

Yes. Starka AC flood lights can be switched ON and OFF automatically using an LDR sensor or a digital timer. The LDR sensor detects the surrounding light level and turns the lights on at dusk and off at dawn, while the digital timer runs them on a pre-set schedule. A PIR motion sensor can also be added so the lights operate at reduced brightness and go to full brightness when movement is detected, saving electricity.

7. How does an AC LED flood light work?

The flood light receives AC power, which first passes through the protection and control circuit and then reaches the LED driver. The driver converts and regulates the AC supply into the exact voltage and current the LED chips need, and the LEDs convert this electrical energy into high-intensity light. The aluminium heat sink removes the heat produced, while the lens or reflector directs the light over the required area at the desired beam angle for uniform illumination.

8. Where are AC LED flood lights used?

AC LED flood lights are used on highways and roads, in industrial areas and factories, and at construction sites. They are also widely used for commercial complexes, educational institutions, electrical high mast projects, warehouses and storage yards. Stadium mast models light up sports grounds, and high-bay models are used inside factories and large sheds with high ceilings.

9. How do I install an AC LED flood light?

Check the site, mounting location and power supply, decide the mounting height based on area size, beam angle and required lux level, and make sure the pole, wall or mast is strong enough. Switch OFF the AC supply, fix the flood light bracket with the supplied hardware and adjust the tilt and direction of the light. Connect the cable with MCB and SPD, protect all cables from moisture, heat and damage, check earthing and fixing, then switch the power ON and verify brightness, beam direction and that there is no flickering.

10. How should AC LED flood lights be maintained?

Periodically check all electrical connections, cable glands and connectors, and get any loose connection, overheating, moisture or corrosion repaired by a qualified electrician. If an LDR sensor is fitted, check that automatic ON/OFF is working correctly. Replace any damaged lens, glass, driver, cable or mounting component only with parts of the correct specification, and Starka can supply genuine spares and AMC service for your installation.
